WHEN THE MAD-MAN SELL

Wonders, they say, never ends! This is exactly what this picture confirms, when, even in his derangement, this mad-man attempts to put his wares for sale.

Captured at Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, Ghana during the twilight, the mad-man who is particularly known by residents for his adventures, displays such items as empty containers of champagne, biscuits and tattered clothing apparently for sale.

However funny it might seem, the man’s attitude also raises serious issues of neglect and/or failure by the state to properly address issues on insanity.

Whereas city authorities go about on daily basis to drive hawkers off the street, which is commendable, several questions are also been raised about ‘who’ to rid the city of mad people and especially, child street-beggars.

When will our cities be free of such people? I wonders.
